Frequently asked questions
How is a painting estimate put together?
An estimate starts with a walk-through of your home. We look at room sizes, wall condition, how much prep the surfaces need, ceiling height, and the paint finish you want. Drywall patching, trim detail, and cabinet work all add time, and that time is what drives the price. You get a clear written quote, no dollar figure guessed over the phone.
What areas around Raleigh do you serve?
We're based in Raleigh and work across the surrounding towns: Cary, Wake Forest, Apex, Holly Springs, Garner, Knightdale, Wakefield, Rolesville, Zebulon, Wendell, and Clayton. If you're close to those and unsure, just call (919) 291-1076 and we'll confirm.
How do I arrange a visit for an estimate?
Call (919) 291-1076 or reach us through the website and we'll set a time that works for you. We're a service-area business, so we come to your home anywhere in the Raleigh area to look at the actual walls, trim, or cabinets before quoting. Estimates are scheduled on weekdays and Saturdays.
How soon can you start my painting project?
It depends on the season and the size of the job, but most projects get a start date within a couple of weeks of the estimate. Larger jobs like full exteriors or whole-house interiors may book out further. When you call, we'll give you our current opening honestly rather than promising a date we can't keep.
What should I do to prepare my home before you arrive?
Not much. Move small valuables and fragile items out of the work area and take pictures off the walls. We handle the rest: moving furniture, laying drop cloths, and doing masking and containment so dust and paint stay where they belong. Big furniture stays in the room, just shifted to the center and covered.
What happens on the first day of the job?
Day one is mostly prep, and that's where a good paint job is won. We patch and sand drywall, caulk seams, and clean surfaces, sometimes with TSP washing in kitchens and baths where grease builds up. Once surfaces are ready, we start cutting in edges, and you'll see clean lines forming by day's end.
Do you repaint kitchen cabinets or just interior walls?
Cabinet repainting is one of our specialties. Doors and drawers get scuff sanded, primed with a bonding primer, then sprayed or brushed with a durable finish. Homeowners are often amazed how a careful cabinet refinishing changes a kitchen without the cost of replacement. We do full interior painting, exterior work, drywall repair, and trim carpentry prep too.
Do you work around my family while painting is underway?
We do. Many of our jobs happen in occupied Raleigh homes, so we keep work areas contained, tidy up each evening, and use low-VOC coatings in bedrooms and living spaces when you'd like. If a room needs to stay usable, we plan the sequence so you're never without a kitchen or bathroom.
Are you open on weekends?
Saturday is a full workday for us, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, same as weekdays. Sundays we're closed. That applies to estimates and to painting days alike, so if weekdays are hard for you, a Saturday walk-through is easy to arrange.
How do you keep paint lines neat around trim and ceilings?
Clean lines come from patience, not luck. Everything gets taped, caulked, and masked before a brush touches the wall. We cut in by hand along trim and crown molding, then roll the field with a two-coat system. It's slower than spraying everything, but the results are what homeowners mention most when they call us back.
Do you pressure wash before exterior painting?
Every exterior starts with a clean surface. We pressure wash to strip mildew, chalk, and dirt, then scrape and feather loose paint and spot-prime bare wood with a stain-blocking primer. Paint sticking to a dirty wall peels in a year, so this step is never skipped on Raleigh-area homes.
